"Revive Time: Kaki Tree Project" Tree Planting Ceremony in Wajima
On April 29, 2025, JAF held a tree-planting ceremony in cooperation with the “Revive Time Kaki Tree Project” at Juzo Shrine in Wajima, which boasts 1,300 years of history.
This project is a project by Tatsuo Miyajima, a contemporary artist world-renowned for his time-themed works.
This is an initiative to spread saplings grown from “A-bombed persimmon trees,” which miraculously survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, around the world as a symbol of peace at more than 250 locations in 23 countries around the world.
On the day of the event, the saplings were planted together with children from Wajima. The children folded persimmon origami with a wish for peace and listened to music played by “Playtronica,” an electronic musical instrument connected to the sapling, while feeling the preciousness of life and hope for the future.
